Piano tuning adjusts the tension of each string to correct harmonies and balance the sound of the piano. Piano manufacturers and the Piano Technicians Guild recommend to have a piano tuned at least every six months (twice a year) at a minimum. For pianos that are played very frequently, such as churches, schools and enthusiastic individuals, every three months is recommended for regular tuning. Concert halls and large scale organizations should have a piano tuned before every performance.
